Tuesday, St. Patrick’s Day, will be blustery and much colder with localized lake effect snow north of the New York State Thruway and east of Lake Ontario.
Highs will be in the 20s with wind chills in the single digits and teens. Parts of Jefferson, Lewis and Oswego Counties have the best chance at 6″ or more of snow by midday Wednesday.
Wednesday will be chilly with lingering lake snow tapering in the morning. Quiet weather is expected Wednesday afternoon with highs in the 20s and 30s.

1. Construction at Hancock Airport to alter passenger pickups
Hancock officials say the new rental car facility, when complete, will add 450 covered public parking spots in the garage, which are currently taken up by rental car spaces.
2. Syracuse public safety headquarters move starts Monday
City officials tell Spectrum News 1 that operations will be moved in phases over the coming months, and emergency services will not be affected.
3. Hochul says she’ll announce proposed changes to 2019 climate law this week
New York Gov. Kathy Hochul said she’ll be announcing her proposals for changes to the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act (CLCPA) later this week. The CLCPA will likely be the key sticking point as state budget talks begin among the governor and the Democratic-led Legislature, which doesn’t seem eager to make changes.
4. Home prices rising and supply lacking amid continued sellers’ market
Home prices are going up while the number of available houses is going down. According to the New York State Association of Realtors, the median home price in the state has gone up for 30 months in a row. Their January 2026 report said the median sales price in January of 2025 was $415,000 compared to $445,000 this past January.
Service-providing industry sectors like health care, social assistance and food service have increased their share of total employment in New York over the last quarter-century while goods-producing sectors have continued a long decline, according to a report released Monday by state Comptroller Tom DiNapoli’s office.
6. Senate will debate SAVE Act this week: What you need to know
The U.S. Senate plans to debate a bill this week that President Donald Trump says is his top legislative priority. The Safeguard American Voter Eligibility, or SAVE America Act, would require a valid U.S. passport or birth certificate to register to vote and a photo, government or military ID with proof of birth and location to cast a ballot.
