The American Soccer Club New York Fighting Tomcats on Monday announced the signing of midfielder Kevin Johnson to a one-year contract for the National Premier Soccer League season.

“I’m thrilled to sign with ASC and be a part of a competitive and winning culture,” Johnson said. “I expect the team to work hard each practice and win each game we play.”

Johnson is a senior at Queens College. He started 19 games this past season, tallying two goals and two assists. As a junior in 2024, he had three goals and an assist in 17 matches, leading the Knights to the ECC regular season championship and earning All-ECC first team honors.

“Kevin is a solid blue-collar midfielder,” Fighting Tomcats head coach John Fitzgerald said in a statement. “He’s super competitive with an engine that doesn’t stop. He was a main and regular feature in Queens College’s post-season run in the fall. He exhibits the working man’s traits that are important to grind through tough games when necessary. I believe he’ll fit in nicely with the boys.”

Johnson began his soccer career with the Massapequa Soccer Club in the Long Island Junior Soccer League. At Connetquot High School, he was a four-year Varsity player and earned All-Suffolk County, All-Region and All-State honors.

“I am very impressed with the culture around the team,” Johnson said. “I think it’s great how much the team has grown in such little time and we have a talented group of guys so I’m excited to get started.”

The Fighting Tomcats will be making additional announcements in the upcoming weeks, including player signings and schedule. The NPSL season will begin in May. Mitchel Athletic Complex in Uniondale, N.Y. will be the club’s primary home venue.
