Since temperatures will fall back below freezing, we will see our precipiation switch over to snow as Monday comes to a close. 

St. Patrick’s Day will be very cold. Wind chill values will be below zero or in the single digits. There is also the potential for lake enhanced snow showers during the day on Tuesday. Accumulation will be minor between today and tomorrow but we can expect a couple inches for the majority of Western New York. 

Temperatures will moderate for the middle to end of the work week. There will be other chances for wet weather during the week.

1. Service industry jobs dominate New York’s economy while goods-producing jobs decline, comptroller’s report says

Service-providing industry sectors like health care, social assistance and food service have increased their share of total employment in New York over the last quarter-century while goods-producing sectors have continued a long decline, according to a report released Monday by state Comptroller Tom DiNapoli’s office.

2. Erie County Stadium Corporation provides construction update for new Highmark Stadium

New details have been released about the construction of the new Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park. The Erie County Stadium Corporation met Monday morning. Officials on that board confirm that work is nearly 90% complete.

3. Home prices rising and supply lacking amid continued sellers’ market

Home prices are going up while the number of available houses is going down. According to the New York State Association of Realtors, the median home price in the state has gone up for 30 months in a row. Their January 2026 report said the median sales price in January of 2025 was $415,000 compared to $445,000 this past January.

4. Hochul announces additional state funding for Shea’s Performing Arts Center expansion

More state funding is being dedicated to the major expansion of Shea’s Performing Arts Center. Gov. Kathy Hochul visited Buffalo on Monday to unveil an additional $5 million for the Elevate Shea’s plan.

5. Niagara County Department of Health issues warning about rabies case in Ransomville

Officials say a raccoon tested positive after an incident last Wednesday between the raccoon and a dog. They say the dog was current with its rabies vaccine and will get a booster.

6. More than 7,000 military and commercial targets have been struck in Iran, Trump says

President Donald Trump said Monday that U.S. and Israel forces have destroyed more than 7,000 targets across Iran as the war entered its third week.

Brain injury survivor finds new purpose after injury

Every year, millions of Americans suffer a traumatic brain injury. It can be something that changes their lives forever.

Justin Parks was coming home from a corner store when the car he was riding in hydroplaned and slammed into a building. The crash left him with a traumatic brain injury that changed everything. He had no broken bones — but the road ahead would be one of the hardest of his life.

“I had to relearn how to walk, say words, swallow — all of those things,” Parks said.

Seizures followed. So did memory loss. He couldn’t drive. And at home, isolation felt comfortable.

“I was grieving my old self and the things I couldn’t do anymore. I was grieving them pretty hard,” he expressed.
