Just as the pilgrims made the crossing to America, this sly fox decided to hop aboard a ship and strike out for his chance at the American Dream. NBC News reported, “A red fox was stowed away on a cargo ship that traveled from England to New York and is now being cared for at the Bronx Zoo.” We’re so glad he made it safe and sound.

Luckily, the staff at the Bronx Zoo are taking great care of him and say he’s in good health. The clip tells us that he is about two years old and “will soon develop an attitude from the Bronx.” Ha!

It should come as no surprise that the comments lit up with praise for Mr. Fox with a few good jokes sprinkled in along the way. “The next Disney Pixar movie ‘The Fox in a Box: A Bronx Tale,'” @ReddStarr kicked us off with flair. It certainly has that silver screen potential.

Viewer @Shanbun got things going in a different direction with, “The red fox jumps over the large blue pond.” Somehow he took the leap and stuck the landing. Others went inside his head, like @WatupWaX who imagined the little guy’s breakfast order, “Let me get a Bacon, egg, and cheese with tea.” That would certainly make any fox happy.

Finally, numerous commenters, and the newscaster, referenced the fox’s newfound New York “attitude.” @CriticalRickRoller won the day with, “What does the fox say? ‘EY, I’M WALKIN’ ‘ERE!!'” We couldn’t have said it better.

All About Red Foxes

It needs to be said: Red foxes are adorable. These little canines only weigh in at about 10 pounds and stand a little over a foot high at the shoulder. That’s a lot smaller than the average dog. As true omnivores, you could find a fox munching on eggs, rabbits, fruit, and worms — a breakfast of champions.

While both the English red fox and the American variety belong to the same species, there are a few differences in size and habitat. That won’t stop this guy from making the Bronx his home, though.
