Reports of a video showing smoke billowing from a Midtown Manhattan roof is reportedly not far from where the New York City St. Patrick’s Day Parade is scheduled to start Tuesday, March 17.

The parade is scheduled to step off from East 44th Street and 5th Avenue at 11 a.m. Tuesday.

Videos show smoke coming from roof on East 43rd Street

CBS News and ABC News New York reported that video shows smoke coming from the roof on East 43rd Street near Fifth Avenue, a block from the parade route’s start. ABC reported it was from a fire on the building’s 28th floor.

At 10:17 a.m. Tuesday, The New York City Fire Department (FDNY) posted to Twitter that they were on the scene of the blaze.

The FDNY posted that New Yorkers could expect “traffic delays, road closures, mass transit disruptions, & emergency personnel near East 43rd Street & Madison Avenue, Manhattan.” It urged travelers to take alternate routes.
