THE BRONX, N.Y. (PIX11) — One person was waving for help as a fire broke out inside a multiple-dwelling building in Kingsbridge on Tuesday, Citizen video shows.
As flames poured out from the third-floor windows near a fire escape, one person was captured on video waving a red flag out of their window, seemingly in need of assistance.
Multiple FDNY trucks and firefighters were seen on site battling the blaze as smoke billowed out from the building.
FDNY officials said the call came in just before 3 p.m. on Tuesday for the reported fire on Kingsbridge Avenue. The fire was upgraded to a second alarm just after 4 p.m., officials said.
Twelve people were taken to nearby hospitals with minor injuries, according to the FDNY.
The fire was under control at 4:11 p.m., officials said.
