WATERTOWN, New York (WWNY) – Powerful wind gusts reaching up to 55 miles per hour on Monday have brought down trees and power lines around the North Country.
The National Weather Service issued a high wind warning for Jefferson and Lewis counties and a wind advisory for St. Lawrence County.
The NWS said sustained wind speed is 20 to 30 miles per hour with gusts as strong as 55 miles per hour.
Trees and branches fell, with some taking out power lines.

Monday morning’s high winds prompted some North Country schools to delay opening.
