The New York State is putting their bid in to host the Winter Olympics in the future for either the 2038 or the 2042 Winter Olympics.

It would be the first time New York State hosted the Olympics since 1980 when they were hosted in Lake Placid. One of the greatest United States men’s hockey games ever was played when they won Gold in 1980 in Lake Placid. Now the hockey events could take place in New York City if in fact, New York State won the bid to have the Olympics in the Empire State.

It would be a joint bid between Lake Placid and New York City

Governor Hochul among tons of other New York State lawmakers are on board with the idea of having the Olympics in both Lake Placid and New York City. Lake Placid would potentially host the snowboarding and skiing events and New York City would host hockey and ice skating events. Lake Placid recently updated all of their venues from the 1980 Olympics and New York City would be on board with updating venues in order to get ready if in fact they won the opportunity to host.

It seems to be a long shot idea though that New York state would host an Olympics especially in 2038.

If New York State won the bid and was able to host the Olympics that would mean the United States of America is hosting back-to-back Winter Olympics which is something that has never been done before.

Right now here’s the Winter Olympic schedule for the next 2 Winter Games

Where are the next Summer Olympics going to be?

Los Angeles, California we’ll host the next Summer Olympics (along with Oklahoma City for numerous events because that would save America $150 million in facility costs) in 2028 and the 2032 Olympics will be held in Australia.
