CONCOURSE, Bronx (WABC) — Several people were overcome by carbon monoxide in their apartment building in the Bronx.
It happened around 11:56 a.m. on Wednesday on Grant Avenue between E. 164th Street and E. 165th Street in the Concourse section.
As firefighters entered the building, their own carbon monoxide detectors started to go off.
A defective boiler apparently caused the carbon monoxide levels to rise.
Seven people were injured, two of them seriously. They were all taken to a local hospital for treatment.
The FDNY vented the building.
