There is plenty of pre-draft speculation that the New York Giants might consider using the No. 5 overall pick in the 2026 NFL draft on Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love.

Sporting News football writer Vinnie Iyer is recommending that the Giants don’t want that long to add to their running back room. Iyer is proposing that the Giants sign veteran running back Najee Harris in free agency.

Iyer writes:

Harris was showing some promise in the Greg Roman offense before he went down in his lone season with the Chargers. Roman now works for the Giants, where they need some power contingency for Cam Skattebo.

This one makes no sense to me.

Harris has been a good player. He had four 1,000-yard seasons in four years with the Pittsburgh Steelers before joining Roman and head coach Jim Harbaugh with the Los Angeles Chargers a season ago.

Harris, 6-foot-1, 242 pounds, played in just three games for the Chargers in 2025 before suffering a season-ending torn Achilles tendon.

The Giants have quality backs in Skattebo and Tyrone Tracy. If they were going to make an addition like the 28-year-old Harris, why would they have kept Devin Singletary?

I don’t get the idea behind this one. How about you, Giants fans?
