The New York Police Department’s 50th Precinct has assigned extra patrol officers to monitor nightlife near West 242nd Street and Broadway in response to the fatal shooting  of 44-year-old Keon Gill in January.

Naya Brown, a 26-year-old project manager for the Department of Education, Pernell Warren, a 34-year-old from Bedford Park, and Daniel Ligon were indicted in connection to the shooting, which killed Gill and hospitalized his 35-year-old brother.

Brown and Warren are being held in Riker’s Island, according to the Department of Correction. Ligon is still at large, according to the Bronx District Attorney’s Office. No additional information has been released about Ligon.

Gill suffered a fatal gunshot wound around 2:50 a.m. on Jan. 25. His brother, Luis Carratini, was shot in the knee and survived. Captain Amadeo Oktrova said the brothers had been coming from the restaurant and bar Tijuana Nites when the three suspects opened fire.

Brown, Warren and Ligon were indicted by a grand jury and charged with first-degree manslaughter, second-degree murder, second-degree attempted murder and two counts each of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

Brown and Warren are expected to appear in court June 9.

The indictment alleges Brown, Warren and Ligon worked together to intentionally kill Gill with a gun and attempted to kill Carratini with a gun.

Oktrova said he does not expect any retaliation or future violence since Gill is from Middletown in upstate New York, and Brown and Warren do not have local ties. The extra patrol officers near West 242nd Street and Broadway are a precaution, he added.

Gill is survived by his wife of 17 years, Michele Weissman, and their five children, as well as eight brothers and sisters, and his mom Brenda Gill, according to his obituary published by Riverdale-on-Hudson Funeral Home.
