BROOKLYN, NY — A three-alarm fire tore through a row of businesses in Midwood on Thursday afternoon, sending flames through the roof of a commercial strip and prompting a large emergency response.
The fire broke out around 4:40 p.m. at 1021 Avenue H, between East 10th Street and Coney Island Avenue.
Flames spread across at least six storefronts in a one-story taxpayer building, with heavy fire visible from above the structure.
Fire officials deployed approximately 63 units and 192 fire and EMS personnel to the scene as crews worked to contain the blaze.
The fire moved through the roof, intensifying conditions and allowing flames to travel across multiple businesses within the row.
Authorities closed nearby streets as emergency vehicles filled the area, causing significant traffic delays along Avenue H and surrounding blocks.
As crews continued operations into the late afternoon, officials reported no immediate injuries.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
