Shelby County wasted no time at the plate, as it put three runs on the scoreboard in the bottom of the first inning. Kaydence Connell doubled to center field to bring in Danslen Connell. Gallups hit a sacrifice fly to left field that brought home Aaliyay Chaisson. Richardson doubled to center field, bringing in Connell.

In the bottom of the second inning, Gallups hit a line-drive single to left field that scored Danslen Connell and Madison Tolleson.

After a scoreless third inning, the Wildcats added four runs in the bottom of the fourth. Chaisson scored Danslen Connell with a line-drive single to center field. Gallups sent a two-run home run over the wall in left field that brought in Kaydence Connell as well.

The final two runs of the game were put across the plate by the Wildcats in the bottom of the fifth inning when Danslen Connell doubled on a line drive to right field. After an error by the Volunteers, she was able to score along with Nancy Hall, bringing the score to 11-0.

Danslen Connell finished the game with four hits, Chaisson had three hits and an RBI, Kaydence Connell had two hits and an RBI and Makayla Allen and Richardson each had a hit.

Shelby County Schools are on spring break next week. The Wildcats (7-2, 2-0 Class 5A, Area 8) return to action on Tuesday, March 31, when they host the Briarwood Christian Lions.
