The New York Jets reunited with veteran quarterback Geno Smith to be their starter in 2026.

All indications are that the Jets want to acquire a second quarterback this offseason. One intriguing option may be Tennessee Titans backup quarterback Will Levis.

The Titans selected Levis with the 33rd pick in the 2023 NFL draft. That was under previous GM Ran Carthon and head coach Mike Vrabel. Levis impressed in brief flashes in 2023 under Vrabel, but failed spectacularly under new head coach Brian Callahan in 2024.

The Titans then drafted Cam Ward at No. 1 overall in 2025. Anyone involved with Levis’ development in Tennessee, Carthon, Callahan, and Vrabel, have since been fired. Levis spent the 2025 campaign on season-ending IR recovering from offseason shoulder surgery.

Levis is now entering a contract year. Ward is the Titans’ new franchise quarterback. Everyone involved with that era with Titans of football proved incapable of developing a quarterback. They also had Malik Willis, who left Tennessee and developed into a really nice option for the Green Bay Packers, recently signing a very lucrative contract with the Miami Dolphins in free agency.

Levis was once considered a traits-forward prospect. General manager Darren Mougey obviously has a good relationship with the Titans, swinging two recent trades for Jarvis Brownlee Jr. and T’Vondre Sweat. The Jets should absolutely consider taking a swing on Levis.
