A tractor trailer hauling an over-height excavator struck more than a dozen overpasses along the New York State Thruway in Central New York, according to State Police.

Authorities said the incidents happened on Wednesday afternoon as the truck traveled westbound between exits 30, for Herkimer and Mohawk, and 36, for I-81 north. Troopers stopped the truck at a lot in the town of Salina.

Investigators found the truck hit overpasses across about 60 miles.

State officials were called in to check the damage. Most overpasses had minor damage, but a few had moderate damage. There were no injuries.

The driver was charged with reckless endangerment and was given more than 20 traffic tickets, including for federal commercial vehicle safety violations.
