SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse University women’s ice hockey saw its four-game winning streak come to an end as RIT scored three unanswered goals to defeat the Orange 4-1 Saturday afternoon at Tennity Ice Pavilion. 


Syracuse (5-5-0, 3-1-0 AHA) took an early lead on Jackson Kinsler’s first-period goal but couldn’t sustain the momentum. The Orange managed just 29 shots on goal and struggled in the faceoff circle throughout the contest. Ava Drabyk made 28 saves in the losing effort. 


RIT (5-5-0, 2-2-0 AHA) bounced back from Friday’s loss with a complete performance, outshooting Syracuse 32-29 and winning 36 of 52 faceoffs. Linda Rulle led the Tigers with a goal and an assist while Addie Alvarez, Kolbee Ashe, and Tilli Keraenen each scored a goal. Sophia Bellina earned the win with 28 saves. 

 

How it Happened 


Jackson Kinsler gave Syracuse an early advantage when she scored an unassisted goal at 6:55 of the first period, her first of the season. 
RIT responded on the power play late in the first when Rulle found the net at 15:33 to tie the game 1-1. 
The Tigers took control in the second period when Keraenen scored at 9:24, assisted by Lexi Sung, giving RIT a 2-1 lead. 
Ashe extended the advantage to 3-1 early in the third period with an unassisted goal at 7:09. Alvarez sealed the victory with an empty-net goal at 16:58, assisted by Rulle.
