Salmon River teacher charged with endangering welfare of child

  • March 22, 2026

FORT COVINGTON, New York (WWNY) – New York State Police charged a Salmon River Central School teacher with endangering the welfare of a child on March 18.

Karrie L. Haverstock, 60, of Brushton, allegedly mistreated a student on or around May 16, 2025, according to State Police.

State Police were notified of an incident involving a teacher at Salmon River Central School on November 21, 2025. Following an investigation, the case was presented to the Franklin County District Attorney’s Office, which reviewed the investigation and authorized the charge.

Haverstock was processed at State Police Malone and released on an appearance ticket, returnable to the Town of Fort Covington Court at a later date in March.

Haverstock was placed on administrative leave in December over allegations that students were locked in a box.

State police said the current charges are not related to that incident.
