One of the North Country’s own has advanced to the next round of NBC’s “The Voice.”Â
Liam Von Elbe, who grew up in Plattsburgh and now lives in Nashville, won a duet battle against Alex Brown last week. They were both on the team assembled by former One Direction member Niall Horan.
Von Elbe and Brown, both guitarists, sang a cover of “Linger” by The Cranberries. Horan chose Von Elbe as the winner.
“Liam’s a great singer-songwriter; he’s very true to who he is,” Horan said. “What makes Liam different to everyone else is he’s the only one of his style on my team, really.”
Von Elbe will next participate in the competition’s Knockouts. He’ll again be pitted against a member of Team Niall, and he’ll get to choose the song he sings. Horan will select who advances from each pair.
The Knockouts begin airing on Monday, Oct. 27. “The Voice” airs Mondays at 8 p.m. Eastern Time on NBC.
