Hundreds of shoppers wandered through rows of handmade goods as a beloved local tradition returned, bringing together artisans and small businesses.
HAMBURG, N.Y. — Spring-like conditions set the backdrop at the Hamburg Fairgrounds this weekend as the long-running Springtime in the Country event brought together hundreds of artisans and shoppers for a major local craft marketplace.
More than 275 artisans participated, offering a wide range of handmade goods including clothing, pottery, and jewelry. The event has become a seasonal tradition in Western New York, continuing for more than 30 years.
Organizers said crowds have remained steady throughout the weekend as visitors come out to support small businesses and shop locally. The event has also become a destination for seasonal gift shopping.
Daniel Kaczynski, an event organizer, said the strong turnout reflects community values around local purchasing.
“I think Western New York understands really innately buying from local and small really matters and really helps your community,” Kaczynski said.

Organizers also noted that many attendees used the event to purchase gifts ahead of upcoming holidays, including Easter and Mother’s Day, adding to the seasonal demand for artisan products.
“Springtime in the Country gives you the opportunity to buy goods straight from the creators, and the care they are made with is unsurpassed,” Daniel Kaczynski of Premier Promotions said in a statement.
“This event gives a high-profile outlet to artists and artisans who may not otherwise be able to effectively reach their audience. These are handcrafted, American-made products, and the people creating them represent the very best of small business.” Â Â
Springtime in the Country opened Friday from 4 to 9 p.m., then continued from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday in the Event Center on the Hamburg Fairgrounds.
