UTICA, N.Y. — Young scientists from local middle and high schools gathered for the 47th annual Utica University Regional Science Fair.
The event was held Saturday in the Donohue Concourse at Utica University with judging in three categories: physical science, natural science and math/computer science and engineering.
Organizers said the fair is designed to enhance K-12 math and science programs in the area and encourage more students to get involved in these fields.
“I hope the students take away that science is a process and to stay curious. They need to keep asking questions. Even if they experience failure along the way, that’s just another data point in the process of discovery,” said regional science fair director Sarah Keesom.
This year’s Senior Level Grand Champion, Alizay Meerub Bilal from Whitesboro High School, will be invited to compete in the 2026 Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair in Phoenix, Arizona, in May.
