BROOKLYN HEIGHTS — A man standing on the platform of the Clark Street subway station in Brooklyn Heights was slashed by a knife-wielding woman just after 8 p.m. on Friday night.

Police from Transit District 30 and the 84th Precinct converged at the station, at the intersection of Clark and Henry streets, and quickly arrested the 41-year-old suspect, leading her out of the station in handcuffs.

Bedford-Stuyvesant resident Bobby Andrew was charged with two counts of assault and one count of criminal possession of a weapon. A knife was recovered at the scene, according to a witness.

Police said they received the 911 call at 8:07 p.m. of an assault in progress. Responders found the victim, 46, on the station’s southbound 2/3 platform with a slash to the hand. He was transported to NewYork-Presbyterian Lower Manhattan hospital in stable condition.

Trains bypassed the station for a short time while the investigation was in progress.

A New York Police Department spokesperson credited transit officers with the arrest. Police could provide no motivation for the attack by press time.

Councilmember Lincoln Restler, who represents the area, said last month that his office has received numerous complaints about an increase in mentally ill and homeless individuals in the station. These include a disorderly naked man who was reported committing lewd acts inside the station.

“Our office has funded new cameras for the station and we have worked with NYPD and homeless outreach providers to increase their presence in the station,” he said in his February newsletter.
