A deadly shooting in Union City is under active investigation after a man was killed overnight, according to information released by Hudson County Prosecutor Wayne Mello.
 

Authorities say the incident unfolded just after 1:50 a.m. Monday in the area of Bergenline Avenue and 44th Street, where Union City police were alerted to reports of an altercation and gunfire. 

When officers arrived, they found a male victim suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.

 

The victim has been identified as David Pulgarin, 42, of North Bergen. He was transported to Jersey City Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead shortly after 2:30 a.m.

 

The cause and manner of death remain pending, awaiting results from the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office.

 

The investigation is being led by the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit alongside the Union City Police Department. As of now, no arrests have been announced.
