The weather is getting better, and so is the vibe all across New York City. For months, you had to smoke your cannabis indoors, or in cars, or anywhere that could block the cold and snow from you. Now you can smoke right when you’re walking down the street.
That’s probably the wildest trip for me — remembering the old days, when cops could pick you up for possession. If you’re in your 20s, you probably have no memory of stop-and-frisk, of how crazy it used to be.
The other night, I was in NoHo, and I kept walking past young adults smoking cannabis in the open. It was amazing to see. This really is what so many people fought for. Sure, it’s a dream to own a dispensary, but back in the day, all we wanted was to be able to light up in peace. And we finally got that.
