NEW YORK CITY (PIX11) – International travel to New York City dipped in 2025, but it wasn’t as bad as expected, according to New York City Tourism + Conventions.

The city saw a 3.2% drop in international travel last year compared with the year before, a decrease of over 400,000 visitors.

“In 2025, New York City’s tourism economy proved resilient despite global challenges,” said Julie Coker, President of NYC Tourism. “The international visitor market is crucial to our economy, accounting for 50% of tourism spending.”

It wasn’t all bad news. Even with the dip, visitors spent more when they visited, totaling over $55 billion, Coker said. And, travel from three countries increased to New York City: Mexico, Italy and the United Kingdom.

Overall, 65 million people visited New York City in 2025, a slight increase from 2024. Most people visited New York City from the tristate area, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., Los Angeles and Boston.
