Florals by Crystal, Council Member Ossé and local florists joined forces to remind Bed-Stuy neighbors that a single bouquet can brighten someone’s day.
Florals by Crystal teamed up with Council Member Chi Ossé and the Society of American Florists to bring the nationwide Petal it Forward initiative to Restoration Plaza in Bed-Stuy on Oct. 15.
The feel-good event invited neighbors to embrace the power of giving. Residents received a bouquet of flowers and were encouraged to share a second one with someone else.
More than 300 bouquets were handed out by volunteers, including local florists Simply N Designs and Lunaluxe Events.
“We wanted to remind our neighbors that kindness can be simple,” said Crystal Kotei, owner of Florals by Crystal. “A small bouquet can completely change someone’s day.”

The initiative, inspired by research from the University of North Florida, celebrates the emotional benefits of flowers, shown to reduce stress and boost happiness.
Council Member Ossé joined the effort, greeting residents, spreading smiles and inspiring everyone to keep the joy going.
