Officials have announced plans to turn The Theater at Innovation Square into a fully functioning performing arts center by adding 8,000 square feet.

The expansion includes rehearsal space, additional restrooms, box office and lobby on the main level.

The goal is to double attendance numbers and bring bigger acts to downtown Rochester.

“What had been a corporate hub in downtown Rochester has evolved into a vibrant neighborhood enhanced by the arts, and now we have a true performing arts center in the heart of the city,” said Karl Stabnau, director of operations for The Theater at Innovation Square.

The theater first opened in 2021 and is located at the corner of Chestnut and Broad Streets.
