VESTAL, N.Y. – Sophomore left fielder Grant Hunter belted two home runs and drove in four to spark a 16-hit attack and Binghamton baseball (9-11) continued its offensive surge with a 17-6 win over visiting Le Moyne (4-12) Tuesday afternoon at Bearcats Baseball Complex. The game was halted after the Dolphins batted in the seventh inning due to the 10-run rule.

The Bearcats extended their win streak to three and have won six of their last nine. During the three-game streak, the team is averaging 15+ runs.

Binghamton actually trailed 2-0 before coming to bat but peppered Le Moyne pitching with six runs in the first, four in the second, one in the fourth and six finishing-runs in the sixth. The Bearcats hit four home runs and batted around in two innings.

Hunter went 2-for-2 with a walk, hit-by-pitch and two home runs. He belted a 3-run home run in the first inning to snap a 2-2 tie and give the Bearcats the lead for good. Hunter then hit a 2-out, solo shot in the fourth. It was his second multi-HR game of the season and gave him a team-leading six home runs this spring.

Sophomore catcher Andrew Heppner hit a home run (solo), double and went 3-for-5 with three runs scored. Sophomore right fielder Braylen Gonzalez and freshman third baseman Owen Rich drove in two runs each. Rich recorded his first collegiate RBI with a run-scoring double off the center field wall in the first. Sophomore center fielder Matt Bolton went 3-for-5 to raise his team-high batting average to .338. Senior shortstop Mike Stellrecht added two hits and an RBI.

Each team used five pitchers with Bearcat freshmen Soren Gregor and Conlan Taylor both working scoreless frames. Gregor struck out a pair.

Binghamton remains at home this weekend and will host Fairfield on Friday and Saturday and welcome Seton Hall on Sunday.Â
