Elizabeth police are investigating an incident that escalated from a physical altercation into gunfire in a neighborhood Tuesday evening.

According to preliminary information, officers were dispatched around 8:30 p.m. to the 300 block of High Street following reports of shots fired.
 

Upon arrival, police located shell casings and spoke with an individual who reported being involved in a physical dispute with another person. 

During the confrontation, the suspect allegedly produced a firearm and fired at least one round in the victim’s direction.

 

No injuries were reported.

 

The suspect fled the scene and remains at large.

 

Authorities say the circumstances surrounding the incident remain under active and ongoing investigation.
