Score: UAlbany 8, #5 Syracuse 10

Short Story: The UAlbany women’s lacrosse team fell to Syracuse 10-8 on Tuesday afternoon at home on John Fallon Field.

How it Happened


Syracuse got on the board first with a goal just under a minute and a half into the game to make it 1-0 early.
UAlbany evened up the score when Riley Forthofer found the back of the net to tie it up at one each at the 10:15 mark.
The Orange responded with a trio of goals to push the score to 4-1 with five minutes to go in the first.
Zareena Sorho of the Great Danes scored with less than a minute and a half left in the first to cut the lead to 4-2.
Both teams traded a pair of goals to start the second quarter, with Paisley Cook and Jaedyn Frink scoring for UAlbany, and pushed the score to 6-4 five and a half minutes into the second quarter.
After a scoreless five minutes, Syracuse broke the stalemate with a goal to make it 7-4. With 4:35 to go in the half.
With less than a minute left, Cook netted her second of the day to cut the lead down to two, 7-5.
Coming out of the break, neither team was able to score for eight and a half minutes. Eventually, the Orange found the back of the net and made it 8-5 with 6:29 left in the third.
Both defenses held firm for the remainder of the quarter, and 8-5 remained the score heading into the final frame.
The Great Danes got on the board early in the fourth thanks to a Mya Carroll goal just under two minutes into the quarter to cut the lead to 8-6.
Syracuse answered back with a goal of its own to make it 9-6 with 8:31 to go.
UAlbany responded when Kloey Roos scored just over 30 seconds later to once again draw within two, 9-7.
The orange extended the lead back out to three following a goal with 5:21 to go to make it 10-7.
Carroll netted her second of the game with 3:14 left to once again cut the lead down to two, 10-8.
Neither team was able to score for the remainder of the game, and Syracuse walked away with a 10-8 win.
