Dr. Jason Mouzakes, or “Dr. Jason” as he’s known to his young patients and their families, is the newly appointed president and CEO of Albany Medical Center Hospital and a professor of otolaryngology and pediatrics at Albany Medical College. A Capital Region mainstay for more than 35 years, he trained at Albany Med, then completed a pediatric ENT fellowship at Seattle Children’s Hospital.
He now oversees hospital operations, clinical strategy and quality at the academic medical center, playing a key role in the system’s “First Choice 2030” vision.
Dr. Mouzakes previously led the ENT department, helping elevate it to a standalone department and serving as its first chair in 2022. He was named general director of the hospital in 2023, where he focused on improving operating room performance, rolling out a system-wide electronic medical record and strengthening collaboration across campuses.
The hospital administrator is today’s 20 things.
