“Jody wasn’t just a manager at Dairy Queen; he was the heartbeat of our store, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather,” shared one of the restaurant’s owners, Abby Hobdy, in a social media post to Dairy Queen’s page. “His unexpected passing leaves a void that words cannot fully express. For decades, he led our team with kindness, a steady hand, and a smile that many of you looked forward to seeing around the restaurant.
“Our deepest sympathies and prayers go out to his family. The Hayles family has been an integral part of our business and the Natchez community for years, with nearly all of them serving as dedicated employees alongside Jody. They are truly family, and we are heartbroken for their loss.”
Added was a notice that the restaurant will be closed on Wednesday to allow all of the staff who worked with and loved Hayles to process the loss and grieve together.
“We appreciate your understanding and patience as we navigate this difficult time. Please keep the Hayles family and our DQ team in your thoughts and prayers.”
