Two New York City-based artists will each receive a $10,000 award to create a site-responsive sculpture at designated locations throughout Flushing Meadows Corona Park
NYC Parks and the Alliance for Flushing Meadows Corona Park today announced the opening of applications for the Art in the Parks: Alliance for Flushing Meadows Corona Park Grant 2026, now in its seventh year. The grant supports the creation of two site-specific public artworks by New York City-based artists at designated locations within Flushing Meadows Corona Park. Each selected artist will receive an award of $10,000. The deadline for proposals is Sunday, April 5, 2026.
The grant is designed to bring attention and visitors to areas of the park beyond its central core. One artist will present their work at David Dinkins Circle; the second artist may select from a range of park entrances and open lawn areas, including sites along Meridian Road and Meadow Lake Road, the Roosevelt Avenue Entrance, entrances on 111th Street, the College Point Boulevard Entrance, the Corona Avenue Entrance, and the lawns around Meadow Lake. Additional locations may also be considered. Artists are strongly encouraged to visit these areas of Flushing Meadows Corona Park before submitting a proposal.
The grant is open to New York City-based artists, with preference given to applicants who live or work in Queens. Eligible artists are those at an early or mid-stage of their career with specialized training in their field and a modest independent body of work. Proposals for previously exhibited sculptures will not be accepted.
Artworks will be installed in October 2026 and will remain on view for up to one year. Grant recipients will be selected by a committee of art professionals, NYC Parks representatives, and community members, and will be evaluated on artistic and creative merit, responsiveness to the surrounding community, and suitability to the site. Priority will be given to proposals that respond directly to the park and its neighborhood. NYC Parks will assist awarded artists with logistics including permitting and site specifications.
Proposals must be submitted as a single PDF by Sunday, April 5, 2026, to NYC Parks Art & Antiquities at artandantiquities@parks.nyc.gov with “Alliance for Flushing Meadows Grant” in the subject line. Required application materials include a resume, an artist statement, a detailed description of the proposed sculpture, representative renderings or images, a list of materials and dimensions, installation and maintenance recommendations, a proposed budget, two professional references, and five to six images of previous work. Award recipients will be announced in May 2026.
