Artists, cultural organizations and advocates gathered in the New York state Senate gallery in the state Capitol on Wednesday to call on state leaders to make a major investment in arts and cultural programs.

Specifically, advocates are looking for a $270 million investment in the New York State Council on the Arts, or NYSCA.

State Sen. Jose Serrano, chair of the Senate Committee on Cultural Affairs, Tourism, Parks and Recreation, discussed the request with Capital Tonight host Susan Arbetter.
