Spooky season is officially here in the NFL.

From upset results to surprise scorers, the last Sunday before Halloween provided some scares across the league.

So, who stood out in Week 8? And which players or teams fell flat?

Here are the winners and losers:

WINNER: Jets finally get it done

The NFL’s last winless team has its first victory.

It was a thrilling victory for the New York Jets, who trailed 17-3, 24-10, 31-16 and 38-24 before storming back to beat the Cincinnati Bengals 39-38. Now 1-7 on the season, Breece Hall was the star for the Jets’ offense with 133 rushing yards, two rushing touchdowns and the go-ahead passing touchdown on a trick play to win the game in the final two minutes.

On the other side, it was a crushing blow for the Bengals after they appeared to have pulled back to .500. Joe Flacco had three total touchdowns, but Cincinnati is going to look back at this game if they miss the playoffs. Staying afloat without Joe Burrow was not going to be an easy task, and losing to the Jets makes life even more difficult.

LOSER: Giants lose the game and their running back

Just two weeks after a thrilling win over the Philadelphia Eagles, the New York Giants couldn’t do it again — and they lost a key contributor in the process.

The defending champions got revenge with a 38-20 blowout victory. The real crux for the Giants, though, came in the second quarter when rookie RB Cam Skattebo was injured. It was a gruesome-looking play, where he dislocated his ankle before being carted off and taken to the hospital.

The Eagles are now 6-2, while the Giants fell to 2-6. Saquon Barkley had two touchdowns and 150 rushing yards in a revenge game against his former team.

WINNER: Tight ends make the most of their day

Defenses hate to see National Tight Ends Day on the calendar.

Once again, players at the position showed up big on the George Kittle-created holiday. The man himself had a touchdown and 43 yards for the San Francisco 49ers. Other tight end scorers in the early window included his teammate Jake Tonges, Cleveland Browns teammates Harold Fannin Jr. and David Njoku, New England Patriots‘ Hunter Henry, Baltimore Ravens’ Charlie Kolak, Jets’ Mason Taylor and Eagles’ Dallas Goedert (twice).

The late window will include tight end touchdown leader Jake Ferguson of the Dallas Cowboys and star rookie Tyler Warren of the Indianapolis Colts.

LOSER: Bears waste prime opportunity

With Lamar Jackson once again out, the Chicago Bears had a perfect setup to win their fifth straight game. Instead, the Ravens kept their season alive.

Former third-string QB Tyler Huntley put together a clean performance in Baltimore’s 30-16 win, going 17 of 22 for 186 yards and a touchdown. Derrick Henry recovered from a few rough games with two touchdowns to steady the backfield. Now 2-5 with Jackson expected to return soon, the Ravens have some winnable games upcoming against the Dolphins, Vikings, Browns and Jets.

The Bears, meanwhile, should be discouraged by another game where Caleb Williams looked shaky. Last year’s No. 1 pick was 25 of 38 for 285 yards with no touchdowns and an interception, with more of the offense coming in the fourth quarter while trailing. Chicago, now 4-3, needs more out of Williams to make a playoff run.

WINNER: Bills back on track

The Buffalo Bills snapped their two-game losing streak in dominant fashion.

After back-to-back losses and a bye week, James Cook and Co. returned to the field with a vengeance. Buffalo traveled to Charlotte and rolled past the Carolina Panthers, 40-9. Cook racked up 216 rushing yards and two touchdowns, while Josh Allen added a passing touchdown and two rushing scores.

The Bills are now 5-2 on the season, with perhaps their biggest test on tap for next Sunday when the Kansas City Chiefs visit Highmark Stadium. Buffalo has a legitimate challenger in the AFC East, but the road to the Super Bowl always goes through Kansas City — expect some fireworks in Week 9.

LOSER: NFC South veteran backup QBs

The Carolina Panthers and Atlanta Falcons turned to their veteran backup quarterbacks in Week 8 with their young starters injured. It didn’t go well.

For the Panthers, Andy Dalton got his first start of the season with Bryce Young out with a sprained ankle. He had an interception and two lost fumbles in a sloppy effort. Carolina is now 3-4 on the season.

Down in Atlanta, Kirk Cousins and the Falcons’ offense couldn’t get anything going against the lowly Miami Dolphins. He had 173 passing yards in the 34-10 blowout loss, and the team had just 45 rushing yards after falling behind early — dropping to 3-4 with their second straight loss. On the bright side, starting QB Michael Penix Jr. and WR Drake London could be returning quickly.
