A five-alarm fire erupted in a five-story apartment building in the Bronx on Thursday morning, March 26, prompting a large emergency response and leaving at least one person dead, according to the New York City Fire Department (FDNY).

The blaze broke out at 505 East 184 Street in the Belmont neighborhood, and four firefighters also sustained minor injuries during the response, the FDNY said.

The remains of the person who died were found in the apartment where the fire broke out, said Chief of Fire Operations Kevin Woods.

Footage from the fire department shows the blaze engulfing the top floor and roof of the building.
