A hit-and-run driver struck and killed a Queens cyclist as the victim was pedaling through Long Island, authorities said Thursday.
Tony Thomas was rolling past the corner of Beech St. near Scott Drive in Atlantic Beach around 7:45 a.m. Tuesday when a driver in a passing Honda HR-V struck him, Nassau County police said.
The woman behind the wheel of the small-sized SUV sped off and was last seen heading down Beech St.
Thomas died at the scene. Officials said he lived in Far Rockaway, not far from the spot of the fatal collision.
Nassau County and Long Beach cops tracked down the HR-V and arrested the driver, who was identified as 67-year-old Erin Henry.
The Long Beach resident was charged with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death.
She was ordered held on $25,000 bail at her arraignment Wednesday.
