A male eyewitness told Norwood News that the shooting occurred at around 9.49 a.m. on Thursday, March 26, at Bainbridge Avenue and Jerome Avenue and that the gun was tossed on the traffic island at the intersection of the two streets.

“We heard a bang, I turned and then I saw the guy standing over  the body and he shot him at least two more times while he was on the ground,” the eyewitness said. “I saw two guys running and one guy ran up into the subway.”

He continued, “The guy ran up into Woodlawn Station and came down the other side and tried to get on the 4 bus to Getty Square. We shouted him down and told the cops he was on the bus. They evacuated the bus and they got the guy on the bus.”

Norwood News asked the NYPD press office if they could confirm this account but at this point, the press office said they could not. We will share any additional details we receive.

A large pool of blood and a backpack was seen at the crime scene, along with the now-unoccupied bus.  More to follow.
