BRONX, N.Y. (PIX11) — One person has died after a massive fire broke out at a five-story residential building in the Bronx on Thursday morning, according to the FDNY.

Four firefighters also sustained minor injuries, including heat exhaustion and sprains.

FDNY officials say the fire was reported at around 5:30 a.m. at 505 East 184th Street between Bassford Avenue and Bathgate Avenue.

Officials say there was a heavy fire on the top floor and cockloft of the building that extended through the roof. There was extensive damage, and the roof collapsed into the top floor.

Over 280 firefighters and emergency personnel responded to the scene.

Crews were able to arrive within four minutes, according to fire officials.

The fire is under control, and an investigation into the cause is ongoing.

The identity of the victim has not been released.
