The head of the city’s tourism agency says New York is “in a good position” despite a decline in international visitors to the U.S.
Julie Coker, president and CEO of New York City Tourism + Conventions, joined NY1 anchor Rocco Vertuccio on “News All Day” to discuss the city’s tourism numbers from last year.
A report this week found about 65 million people visited the city last year, slightly up from 2024. However, the number of international visitors declined by over 3%. The drop was most significant among Canadian travelers, plummeting 19% last year.
“We are seeing a combination of things,” Coker said. “Certainly sentiment towards the U.S. played a role. We are expecting that to do better in 2026.”
Coker says the World Cup is expected to draw in additional international travelers this year.
