UTICA, N.Y. — Residents across the Mohawk Valley are preparing to join millions nationwide in a day of nonviolent protest at the third No Kings National Day of Nonviolent Action.

The event will take place on March 28 with local rallies planned in Utica, Rome and Herkimer.

Utica: State Office Building, 207 N. Genesee St., 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., with the Genesee Street march at approximately 1:15 p.m.Rome: Fort Stanwix National Monument, 100 N. James St., 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.Herkimer: 321 E. Albany St., Herkimer, 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Organizers expect more than 3,100 events in all 50 states and anticipate over 9 million participants.

The movement, called No Kings, previously brought out 5,000 people in the Mohawk Valley and over 7 million nationwide on Oct. 18, 2025, according to Indivisible Mohawk Valley, a sponsor of the event.

According to nokings.org, “Our peaceful movement is only getting bigger. ‘No Kings’ is more than just a slogan; it is the foundation our nation was built upon. Born in the streets, shouted by millions, carried on posters and chants, it echoes from city blocks to rural town squares, uniting people across this country to fight dictatorship together.”

The local rallies tomorrow are co-sponsored by groups including the NAACP Rome Branch, Oneida County Pride Association, League of Women Voters Utica-Rome Metropolitan Area, Interfaith Coalition, Planned Parenthood of Greater New York, Citizen Action NY Central NY Chapter and the Oneida County Democratic Women’s Club.

Organizers emphasized a commitment to nonviolent protest and community safety.

“Organizers are instructed in de-escalation and are working with local partners to ensure peaceful and powerful actions nationwide,” according to IMV.
