Auburn, N.Y. — A correction officer is accused of bringing significant amounts of drugs to work at Cayuga Correctional Facility after a joint investigation by state police and corrections investigators.

According to New York State Police, Gregory S. Gorman, 60, of Moravia was arrested following the investigation.

State police said that on the morning of March 27, the State Police Auburn Bureau of Criminal Investigation was contacted by DOCCS investigators about an ongoing investigation into Gorman.

As part of the investigation, DOCCS investigators conducted a staff screening when Gorman reported for work.

A trained narcotics detection canine alerted to the presence of drugs on Gorman and a subsequent search by investigators found he was in possession of cocaine with an aggregate weight of about 28.2 grams and heroin packaged in about 50 paper sleeves with an aggregate weight of about 10.3 grams, police said.

Investigators also conducted a consent search of Gorman’s vehicle and located additional cocaine, according to authorities. He was then turned over to the New York State Police.

Gorman was charged with two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, three counts of first-degree promoting prison contraband, fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, official misconduct and second-degree promoting prison contraband.

He was taken to the Cayuga County Jail, where he is being held pending arraignment.
