Manhattan High girls’ swimming placed second Saturday at the Lansing Relays, finishing with 143 points behind a strong showing across multiple relay events.

Host Lansing won the team title with 187 points, while Manhattan secured runner-up honors behind several medalist finishes, as the top three teams in each event earned medals.

The Indians were led by a win in the 100-yard freestyle relay, where the group of Aubrey Niedermayer, Madilyn Powell, Ashtan Hansen and Caris Goering placed first in 54.72. Manhattan also added a fourth-place finish in the event.

Manhattan’s depth showed throughout the meet, beginning with a third-place finish in the 500-yard descendo relay from the team of Goering, Ellie Lund, Hansen and Brenna Butler.

The quartet of Delaney Saucier, Goering, Ava McKee and Hansen placed second in the 100-yard medley relay with a time of 1:03.87.

The Indians added with another podium finish in the 200 backstroke relay, where Saucier, Mallory Pecenka, Lund and McKee placed third. Another medal came in the 200 breaststroke relay, as Jillian Gray, Kami Spencer, Powell and Goering combined for a third-place finish.

Manhattan continued to stack top-five finishes across the remaining relay events. The Indians placed fourth in the 400 IM relay and fifth in the 200 butterfly relay, while also finishing sixth in the 400 free relay.

The consistent scoring across all relay formats helped Manhattan secure the team runner-up trophy in its second meet of the season. Up next for the Indians is the Topeka High Invite on Tuesday, followed by the Salina South meet on Thursday, April 9.
