TOWN OF DIANA, New York (WWNY) – State police, responding to a trespassing complaint, discover two people dead in two vehicles and ends after an officer-involved shooting killed the suspect.
It happened on Alpine Road in the Town of Diana Friday around 5pm when a homeowner, who was away, saw through a security camera a person trespassing on their property. Police say it appeared the person had a long gun.
When troopers arrived, they say they found a burned-out vehicle nearby with the remains of one person inside.
Shortly after, police say they found another burned-out vehicle with another person dead inside.
The investigation led police to a nearby home where they say the suspect came out of the residence with a long gun and fired at troopers.
One trooper fired back with their division-issued weapon hitting the suspect, according to state police.
The suspect died at the scene.
Names aren’t being released as of Saturday afternoon.
The investigation is ongoing.
