Queen Elizabeth II reportedly didn’t mince words when Prince Harry told her he was going to propose to Meghan Markle.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex had a speedy courtship, as they began dating in the summer of 2016 and were engaged by November 2017.

According to royal biographer Hugo Vickers‘ newbook via The Telegraph, the late leader of England warned her grandson about moving too fast in his romance with Meghan.

The writer claimed Her Majesty told Harry to “wait a year” before popping the question.

“He did not take her advice. Instead, as we know, the wedding went ahead just over six months after the couple’s engagement,” Vickers claimed.

In the book Finding Freedom, writers Carolyn Durand and Omid Scobie claimed Prince William also encouraged his brother not to rush into marriage.

“Take as much time as you need to get to know this girl,” he reportedly told Harry about the Suits actress.

Harry and Meghan got married in a lavish ceremony at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle in May 2018. The pair ultimately left The Firm in 2020 and have had a rocky relationship with the royal family ever since.

“Prince William blames Meghan Markle for escalating their private tensions into a highly public media circus,” royal expert Hilary Fordwich told Fox News Digital. “He has no tolerance for reconciliation.”

To make matters worse, Lady Elizabeth “Lisa” Anson alleged Elizabeth “felt very left out of” the planning the couple’s nuptials.

“Harry has blown his relationship with his grandmother,” Anson told biographer Sally Bedell Smith for her Royals Extra Substack page. “She said she was really upset.”

“I was shocked when the Queen told me this, how she was so saddened,” Anson told the author about Elizabeth’s disappointment with Harry. “I had no idea about the conversation, that he was rude to her for 10 minutes.”
