ARVERNE, Queens (PIX11) — One dog is dead and another is in critical condition after they were both shot by a police officer responding to a call of a dog attack in Queens on Monday, according to authorities.

Police found a woman being bitten by a pit bull at 4-14 Beach 58th St. just before 9 p.m. on Monday, officials reported.

The pit bull was shot and killed at the scene, while another dog was shot and listed in critical condition, police said. It was not immediately made clear whether the second dog was part of the attack.

The pit bull belonged to the woman whom it bit, authorities confirmed on Tuesday. She was taken to the hospital with injuries to her arm but was expected to survive.
