NYPD detectives are on the hunt for four mask-wearing perps who allegedly robbed a cab driver overnight last week in Lower Manhattan, taking his wheels on a joyride to New Jersey.

According to law enforcement sources, the frightening incident occurred on Monday, March 23, at around 1:30 a.m. in front of 50 2nd Ave. in the East Village, when a 51-year-old cab driver was on break from his tour. While sitting in his vehicle, four unidentified men, dressed mostly in black, approached the cabbie and asked for a ride to a “specific location,” police said.

After the victim denied the request, one of the suspects whipped out a gun and pulled the driver from the vehicle. All four suspects then hopped inside the vehicle, leaving the victim behind, and fled to parts unknown.

The incident was reported to the 9th Precinct; police sources said there were no injuries.

Meanwhile, using a tracking device, police were able to track the victim’s vehicle and found it later in Newark, NJ.

Police released a surveillance video of the suspects, which shows them entering a store, with at least three of them wearing blackface masks. Three suspects were last seen wearing black sweatshirts, dark-colored pants and black sneakers. The fourth suspect was last seen wearing a light-colored sweatshirt, black jacket, and carrying a bookbag.

So far, no arrests have been made, but the investigation is ongoing.
