ALBANY, New York (WWNY) – Trout fishing season starts Wednesday in New York state.
The state says there are plenty of opportunities for anglers to hook both wild and stocked trout.
According to the Department of Environmental Conservation, the state is stocking 1.7 million catchable-size brook, brown, and rainbow trout in New York waterways through early June.
Anglers are encouraged to use DEC’s HuntFishNY app for information on access sites, stocking and regulations.
Trout fishing season continues through October 15.
