At Liberty Science Center’s Wild About Animals celebration, you can let a butterfly land gently on your finger in the Butterfly House. Both monarch butterflies and painted lady butterflies will fill the air. In the Chick Hatchery, everyone can learn how newborn chicks peck their way into the world, and grow into big, colorful roosters and hens. Two By Two Animal Haven from Pleasant Valley, New York, will bring a kangaroo joey, an umbrella cockatoo, a hedgehog, a cane toad, and more animal friends. The animals will be featured in free live shows, and guests may visit them throughout the day.
Of course, the Science Center’s permanent animal residents are also celebrating spring! Don’t miss the cotton-top tamarin monkeys, tortoises, turtles, leaf-cutter ants, honey bees, and all of their friends. In Our Hudson Home, there is a brand-new Touch Tank that’s open to guests daily. Reach out and touch a horseshoe crab, a sea urchin, and other aquatic animals native to the Hudson River estuary.
Consider adding tickets to a 3D science movie or a cosmic astronomy show in the Western Hemisphere’s largest planetarium to make the most of your visit. For dinosaur fans, the premium exhibition about SUE the T. rex employs the latest technology to demonstrate what life was like 67 million years ago when Tyrannosaurus rex roamed the Earth.
