NEW ROCHELLE, NY (April 1, 2026) — The Iona Players, a theater group from Iona University, will perform ‘Sister Act: The Musical’ at the Murphy Auditorium. Performances are scheduled for April 10 at 7 p.m., April 11 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., and April 12 at 3 p.m.

Based on the 1992 film starring Whoopi Goldberg, the musical features a soundtrack inspired by Motown, soul, and disco, bringing the 1970s to life. The story follows Deloris Van Cartier, a lounge singer who enters witness protection in a convent after witnessing a crime.

John Deveraux, a junior at Iona University who plays Joey, remarked, “Performing with the Iona Players is such a privilege. All the members are immensely talented and are giving their all for this show!”

Tristen Rosa, a senior playing Pablo, shared, “It has been a pleasure working alongside the Iona Players in their production of Sister Act. The entire cast and crew have been a joy to work with, and the show itself has been a really fun experience to be a part of. I look forward to showing audiences the hard work this group has put into this production, as well as having a solid show to end off my senior year on.”

The performances are free for Iona University students and faculty, with tickets available for purchase at Ionatickets.com.
