Temperatures turn unseasonably warm Friday and Saturday with highs in the 60s and low 70s. In the wake of a cold front that will swing through on Sunday, temperatures will settle back into the 40s to start next week.

3. State of Emergency declared in parts of Steuben County after heavy rain, flooding
A local State of Emergency has been declared in the Steuben County towns of Cohocton and Prattsburgh after heavy rain on Tuesday led to flooding. The Steuben County Office of Emergency Services says they are monitoring conditions and recovery operations are underway, with public works teams responding to storm-related damage, including roadway impacts and infrastructure concerns.
4. Grant to aid in Remington Arms facility redevelopment
Herkimer County is getting $500,000 to put toward the redevelopment of the Remington Arms facility.

NASA’s Artemis II mission is set to launch Wednesday night with Commander Reid Wiseman at the helm. Wiseman is a 1997 graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, and the people who knew him best say they always knew he was destined for something extraordinary.
6. Supreme Court is weighing Trump’s bid to limit birthright citizenship
A little over 14 months after President Donald Trump issued an executive order seeking to end birthright citizenship for the children of undocumented immigrants and temporary visitors, the Supreme Court is now reviewing the constitutionality of the measure.Â

Proposals to tax New York’s rich prove to be state budget sticking point
The state Senate’s proposal includes a 0.5% income tax surcharge on the state’s top two income brackets. Those currently stand at 10.3% for income between $5 million and $25 million, and 10.9% for income over $25 million. The state Assembly’s proposal increases taxes on about 14,000 New Yorkers earning more than $5 million a year.
